Does a doula replace the role of the spouse/partner?

Updated: Mar 20, 2022

I do not replace the role of the spouse/partner; they have an important and integral role in the pregnancy and birth experience. While I have knowledge and experience about pregnancy and birth, they have knowledge about you. I help them help you. This also means that if spouse/partner needs a moment to rest, eat, or go to the washroom while you are in labour, I will be there for them to take a break. Together, we support you to the best of our abilities.
